The Bombay (India) Port Trust recently ordered two Voith Water Tractors from the Indian shipyard, The Hooghly Docking and Engineering Co. Ltd., Calcutta.

The Voith Water Tractors will each have the following dimensions: length overall, approximately 33 meters (108 feet); beam, 9.5 meters (31 feet); and total draught, approximately 4.8 meters (15¾ feet).

Two size 28G/185 Voith-Schneider propellers are connected to slow-rpm diesel engines via hydraulic couplings. The vessels are designed for a static bollard pull of approximately 35 tons and a free-running speed of about 12 knots.
