   Avondale Shipyards christened the Oxy Trader, the first of three integrated catug/barge vessels for Occidental Petroleum Corporation, said to be the first catamaran tug/barge for transocean trading.

4. Australia Receives First Of Four Gas-Turbine-Powered FFGs From Todd Seattle

   Todd Pacific Shipyards commissioned HMAS Adelaide, the first of four General Electric gas-turbine-powered guided-missile frigates for the Royal Australian Navy, in ceremonies at Harbor Island, Seattle, on November 15.

5. Twin Towing/Supply Vessels Delivered By Quality Shipyards

   Gulf Fleet Marine Corporation took delivery of two 190-foot towing/supply vessels, Gulf Fleet No. 42 and No. 43, built by Quality Shipyards, Inc. of Houma, La., each powered by two GM EMD diesels developing 3,900 bhp.

6. Australia Fights Oil Spills With MARCO Class I Skimmers

   The Australian Department of Transport purchased four MARCO Seattle Class I self-propelled Filterbelt skimmers, to be stationed at Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney, as part of a national program to improve oil spill response.

7. Bethlehem's Beaumont Yard Completes Jackup For Temple Drilling

   Temple Drilling Company and Bethlehem Steel's Beaumont shipyard commissioned the Comanche, a 150-foot water depth mat-supported jackup rig for Tidelands Limited II that will work in the Gulf of Mexico for Gulf Oil. A second, 200-foot rig, the Cheyenne, is contracted for April 1982 delivery.

8. New Offshore Mooring System Under Development In Scotland

   Scomagg Hydraulics Ltd. of Bellshill, Lanarkshire, is developing a hydraulic winch and electronic control mooring system that keeps a supply vessel safely moored to an oil rig at a pre-determined distance even in severe North Sea conditions.

9. Electric Boat Launches Attack Submarine 'Baltimore'

   General Dynamics' Electric Boat Division launched the 688-Class fast attack submarine Baltimore (SSN-704) at Groton, Conn., with Senator Charles McC. Mathias calling for a Navy 'second to none' and Representative Marjorie S. Holt christening the ship.

10. MSC Will Charter Sun Transport's New Product Carrier 'New York Sun'

    Sun Transport, Inc. and the Military Sealift Command signed a five-year charter for the 34,400-dwt product tanker New York Sun, modified to refuel U.S. Navy ships under way.
