3. Monark Boat Delivers Oil Recovery Vessel For Use On Lake Maracaibo

   Monark Boat Company delivered the Marlimpia, a 48-foot aluminum catamaran oil recovery vessel designed by Centrifugal Systems, Inc., to The Lake Committee at Lake Maracaibo, Venezuela. The vessel carries Petro Mop and Weir recovery systems, dispersant applicators and firefighting monitors.

6. Adm. Harold E. Shear Sworn-In As Maritime Administrator

   Adm. Harold E. Shear, USN (ret.), was sworn in as Maritime Administrator by Transportation Secretary Drew Lewis, becoming the first to head MarAd since its transfer to the Department of Transportation. The article reviews his 39-year naval career and his pledge to revive the industry.

7. Mississippi Marine Delivers M/V Redneck—Second Of Three Towboats For Captain Hollinger

   Mississippi Marine Towboat Corporation of Greenville, Miss., delivered the 56-foot, 1,000-hp fleeting towboat M/V Redneck to Capt. W.A. (Peanut) Hollinger, the second of three ordered and sister to the M/V Cole.

8. Seward, Alaska To Build Large Shipping Facility

   The City of Seward broke ground for the Fourth of July Industrial Park, a $60-million dock, shipyard and marina development on Resurrection Bay. VECO Inc. of Anchorage will operate the ship repair facility, and the city expects to invest more than $54 million over 10 years.

9. Indonesia To Use Jetfoil In Naval, Commercial Roles

   Boeing Marine Systems launched Bima Samudera I, the first jetfoil for Indonesia, to be evaluated in coastal defense, customs, offshore oil and passenger roles. The $13.7-million craft will begin operating in Indonesia in March 1982.
