   Avondale Shipyards christened the M/V Ogden Dynachem, first of two 42,000-dwt chemical product carriers for Ogden Marine, Inc. The $70-million, 629-foot vessel — the first conventional chemical ship built in the U.S. in over a decade — will be time-chartered by Diamond Shamrock Corporation for 15 years. 3. J Storm XVI Is 50th Jackup Commissioned At Bethlehem, Beaumont

   Southern Drilling Company and Bethlehem Steel's Beaumont yard commissioned the 250-foot water depth jackup J Storm XVI, the 50th jackup built at Beaumont since 1954 and the 18th for the James C. Storm interests. The article recounts the yard's long relationship with Mr. Storm and reports a backlog of 12 mobile drilling units.

4. Bath Iron Works Plans New $46.7-Million Portland Yard

   Maine Governor Joseph Brennan announced that the State of Maine, the City of Portland and Bath Iron Works have signed a memorandum of intent for a $46.7-million shipbuilding repair and overhaul facility at the Maine State Pier in Portland, expected to create about 1,000 jobs within five years.

5. Burmeister & Wain Shipyard Delivers The M/S Baumare

   Burmeister & Wain Shipyard, Copenhagen, has delivered the M/S Baumare, the third of a series of 17 fuel-saving Panamax bulk carriers of about 64,000 dwt, to Baumare Inc. of Monrovia; improved hull design and a B&W 5L80GFCA engine cut fuel consumption 15-20 percent.

6. M/V Jeffboat

   Jeffboat, Incorporated christened and launched the 6,000-hp towboat M/V Jeffboat at its Jeffersonville, Ind., yard, named to honor the company's record production. The vessel will join American Commercial Barge Line's fleet as a line boat. Principal dimensions and machinery are listed.

7. Geiger Succeeds Zuehlke As President Of Bay Shipbuilding Corp.

   George K. Geiger has succeeded retiring Arthur J. Zuehlke as president of Bay Shipbuilding Corp., Sturgeon Bay, Wis., a subsidiary of The Manitowoc Company. The article reviews both men's careers and the yard's record as the largest on the Great Lakes.

8. Offshore Express In $10-Million Expansion– 'Lightning Express' Delivered By Progressive Shipbuilders

   Offshore Express, Inc. of Houma, La., has taken delivery of the 102-foot crewboat Lightning Express from Progressive Shipbuilders and Fabricators, the first of five new boats in a $10-million expansion that will bring its fleet to 19 by the end of 1981.

9. Tacoma Boat Launches $3.4-Million Oil Test Barge For Sohio Use

   Tacoma Boatbuilding Co. has launched the 214-foot Ice Class II petroleum products barge Investigator for Sohio, to support Sohio Alaska Petroleum's exploratory drilling in the Beaufort Sea. It will be the first ice-class barge used in the area.

    Dedication ceremonies were held at Port Everglades for the tugboat Belcher-Port Everglades, built by Diamond Manufacturing Company, and Belcher Barge #102, built by Galveston Shipbuilding — described as the largest oceangoing tugboat and largest unmanned barge of their type built in the United States.
