The new towboat Conti-Betty Lynn made her maiden voyage on the Ohio River recently. Built by Jeffboat Inc., Jeffersonville, Ind., for ContiCarriers and Terminals, Inc., a subsidiary of Continental Grain Company, Des Plaines, Ill., the Conti-Betty Lynn is 160 feet long, 48 feet wide, 11 feet 6 inches deep, and is powered at 6,000 hp by two EMD engines.
The towboat is named to honor Mr. and Mrs. Bernard (Betty Lynn) Steinweg. Mr. Steinweg is senior vice president of Continental Grain Company. The vessel was christened at the waterfront in St. Louis, Mo.
